Coffs Harbour, with its brilliant sub-tropical climate and sparkling beaches is the ideal spot for your vacation.
Being about mid-way between Sydney and Brisbane, Coffs is also a great place to have a break and spend a few days exploring the beaches, mountains and the many attractions the area has to offer.
The sub-tropical city of Coffs Harbour, with a population of approx 55,000, can be reached by car, air, bus or rail. Coffs Harbour is located at 554 Kms (344 miles) north of Sydney and 427 Kms (265 miles) south of Brisbane. There are 44 kms (27 miles) of long, white beaches to enjoy, and the climate has been assessed as one of the best in Australia.
The first settlers arrived in the 1840s for logging, mining and later, agriculture. The Coffs area is also famous for its bananas, and is the home of the Big Banana - a great attraction for kids of all ages.
From the city centre, it is just a short distance along Harbour Drive is the vibrant Jetty area, with more restaurants and cafes, and easy access to the beach area and Coffs Marina. In this location is the Deepsea Fishermen's Club and the Coffs Harbour Yacht Club.
The city offers a wide range of entertainment, from wildwater rafting to a quiet laze on the beach; from a game of golf on an international standard course to a leisurely stroll through the North Coast Regional Botanic Gardens. Whether you're into light aircraft, ballooning, four-wheel driving, sailing, horseriding, horse and carriage driving or touring on a Harley Davidson, Coffs Harbour has it all.
Coffs Harbour has a number of shopping centres.
There's the City Centre Mall & the Palm Centre and just up the road is Park Beach Plaza and Homebase Shopping Centre, as well as lots of smaller arcades and centres right nearby. Major shops are all present including Woolworths, Coles, Harvey Norman, etc. In Toormina, the new Centro develppment is almost complete which will add a K Mart to the North Coast of NSW. All just a short distance from the motel.
In the hinterland you'll find the Orara Valley, its secret dales lush with native trees, grasses, ferns and waterfalls. Australian native flora and fauna abounds. The Waterfall Way winds up through the foothills of the Great Dividing Range through Bellingen and on to Dorrigo.
Twenty minutes north of Coffs Harbour lies Woolgoolga, an idyllic coastal village with one of the largest Indian populations in Australia. A short drive south along the coast will lead you to Southern Cross University, TAFE College Education Campus, Sports Stadium, Sawtell (more great restaurants) and Toormina.
